Judge’s Bio I grew up in the suburbs if NYC
where I was fortunate that as a teenager, I was able to convince my
parents to buy me a horse. I spent the next four years before heading
off to college showing my own horses and working as a groom and
exercise rider for a family that had a number of
show horses. It was during this time that my dream that I would
one day have a farm of my own and breed own horses was
born. After college, I dabbled in
horses again, and purchased a conformation hunter and a jumper
prospect. I spent the next year working with and showing them,
eventually sending them both down to VA to be trained at one of the top show
barns in the country. Well... after about 8 months in VA, I realized
that although I had a good eye and knew my horses, I was lacking one very
important factor. That factor was the money that was required to keep a
horse, let alone two, on the A show circuit. I sold the horses and
learned the hard lesson that I did not have enough money to "keep up
with the Joneses’’ " so to speak. Some 15 years later, I purchases a small farm about 150 miles north of In 2002 I attended a beginners
judging clinic with no intention of becoming an ALSA judge. My
intention was to hone my skills in evaluating Llamas to help make better and
more informed purchases. After learning so much at that initial clinic,
I decided to try my hand at judging. I have been active judging for a
little over three years now, and am happy to say that I enjoy it as much, if
not more, than I did three years ago. I am currently a level III
judge, and am fortunate to have judged a number of shows over the past few
years These include AgFest
in OR, Millennium Magic in MI, The Ozark Classic in MO, Laramie Llama
Festival in WY, Badgerland Sweepstakes in WI, and
in 2005, I was fortunate to be one of the performance judges at the ALSA
Grand National. This past year, I was f one of the Futurity judges at
the Celebrity World Futurity and my last show of the season was the
Southeastern Regional. I enjoy judging shows both large and small, and
enjoy talking with the exhibitors and the youth. I am looking
forward to the few shows that I have booked for 2007, and to a great
show season. |
