2007 LOM Llama Fleece Show

The 2007 LOM Llama Fleece Show will take place on January 13, 2007 during the Lamas of Minnesota Winter Conference.  Mary Jo Miller, Kentucky, will be the ALSA Fleece Judge.  LOM is again sponsoring the 2007 LOM Fleece Show.  We have a chance to do a major show to identify some fantastic fleeces, which may be of such superior quality, they will go on to the 2007 Grand Nationals! 

Any one is eligible to enter their shorn fleece.  Any fleece may be entered; it does not need to be qualified by a previous show.   There is no limit of entries per member.  The fleece show will be governed by the ALSA 14th edition handbook so please refer to your ALSA book for all show rules.   Deadline for entry is 8 AM, January 13, 2007.

Shorn fleece entry fees are $10 per fleece. Specialty non-fleece classes will be $5 each. You may check in your fleece or finished item on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at the LOM winter conference, Holiday Inn, Austin, MN, and pick it up on your way home from the conference.  Or, another option: You may mail entries to Fran Soukup, N1694 County Road HH, Lyndon Station, WI 53944 to be received no later than Jan. 11, 2007.  Please include a $10 shipping & handling fee per fleece for return postage. 

All fleeces and specialty fleece items will be on display during the Winter Conference, as soon as judging is completed, on Saturday.  Ribbons will be awarded to 6th place.  If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact me.

Never entered a Fleece Show before?  Have no clue what you are doing?  That’s OK.  This year we are featuring a fleece show skirting party on Friday evening, January 12, 2007, at the winter conference.  Just bring your fleece on in and let’s have some fun. There is no fee for learning how to prepare your fleece.  This is a $25 value offered free to any one interested in learning how to prepare a fleece for fleece competitions.  If you have a skirting table, it would be nice, if you could bring that along.

This is a way to learn more about your llamas and their fiber – Plus, the judge promises to provide feedback and talk with exhibitors, after judging is finished.  2007 may be the year to give fleece shows a try!
